Helping you learn how to calm your baby's colic.
Won't my baby overheat or get too warm if I swaddle him?
Dear Sirs,
I've read that one way to reduce the risk of SIDS is to not let the baby get to warm. Will the swaddling blanket keep the baby too warm? What would the baby have to wear when using a swaddling blanket?
Thanks.
Swaddling your baby does not necessarily cause overheating. As a parent, you are able to dress your baby in the right amount of clothing in order to prevent the overheating. Depending on the temperature of the home, your child may be in just a diaper or have a light sleeper on. Periodic checks of while your baby is sleeping will help you gauge if your child is at a comfortable temperature. If you notice that he is perspiring, then he may be too warm. If your baby is sleeping well and is not perspiring or too warm to the touch then you do not have to worry about over heating.
